The Season of Giving is Here at Shepherd!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year as Shepherd Thermoforming gives back to the community. Now, normally in the spirit of the holidays, we like to give out Christmas cards as a thank you to all of our great clients through the years. It’s been a long-standing tradition that has spanned decades. However, this year we wanted to do something different and give back in a different way. But before we get to that, we wanted to provide a brief history of our company.

Shepherd Thermoforming: A Brief History

Our President, Todd Shepherd has been with the company for over 30 years. In his time here, he’s seen a lot of holiday parties and has been involved with many of our events. In those 30 years, our business has evolved quite a bit. One of Todd’s fondest memories is of him, his brother and our VP of Finance, Mark Shepherd and their friends getting to work together after school.

Shepherd co-packingUnder the leadership of his father, Barry Shepherd, we continued to grow. In fact, we grew from a two-person operation to a 30+ member team. Additionally, we went from a small office space to our new 45,000 SQFT facility in those years.

Our client-first approach has been a big factor in our growth. As our company grew, so too did our want to make a difference. It began with pushing for sustainable packaging solutions to our clients. It then developed into re purposing our excess plastics to send to our suppliers as reusable material. Now, we’re introducing a new initiative to give back once again.

Christmas time is always enjoyed by everyone at our offices. Most notably, our annual Christmas luncheon; just check out this timeless photo from a time not too long ago. Please note, KFC did not endorse us for this publicity:

Traditionally, we send out Christmas cards to all of our existing clients to thank them for their support. Additionally, we make a charitable donation to Sick Kids every year as well to help with all the work they do. This year however, we saw the devastation caused by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma South of the border and went a different route.

Red Cross Emergency Supplies

To support our neighbours displaced from their homes by these tropical storms, we decided to forego sending cards and re route our annual donation to Sick Kids to be put towards support of the American Red Cross. Our money will go towards the Red Cross initiative and will help them as they:

  • Respond to nearly 200 emergencies every day from major disasters such as hurricanes to localized ones such as house fires
  • Supporting wounded veterans and connecting military families in emergencies
  • Continue to be America’s largest blood collection organization – supplying 40% of blood and blood product used in the country

Thank You

As we wind down for the year to take some time off to spend with our family, we wanted to thank you for sharing in our most successful year yet with us. At the end of the day, your success is our success and we could not have made it to where we are today without your support.

If your interested in learning about more ways that Shepherd Thermoforming gives back to the community, please feel free to contact us and we’ll tell you all about it.

Until next year, we wish you and yours a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
